As a child, Blue was fascinated by a carved coffee table purchased from a far east artist. The craftsmanship of expressing depth with only an inch or so of wood left a strong impression.
Today, Blue brings a fresh new take on the relief sculpture. This type of sculpture once seen on the ancient Egyptian and Mayan walls and Renaissance stone pillars can now hang on the walls of your home.
The Process
I love to capture spontaneous beauty, whether a living being or nature, then think about how that translates to a dimensional piece of art.
I wanted this piece, entitled Ancient Knowledge, to focus on the beauty in the structure and texture of her hands and of her hair. Unexpectedly, her face became a focal point too.

An illustrated journey through staggering losses and grief overload, starting with a loss of a job, a diagnosis of terminal cancer and a yearlong death of a beloved person, and a traumatic brain injury in less than 18 months.
A core group of these illustrations were the only way of expressing myself at the time.
I create illustrations in a wide range of styles, from very simplistic to very realistic, geared to a wide range of audiences including adult, young adult, and young readers.
I love to show the wonderful range of expression of character and personality that makes life interesting. Like cows with their tongues out, it just delights!
