What are these sculptures made of?

These are all sculpted in polymer clay, a synthetic sculpting substance that requires baking to harden.

What is the backing or support for the sculptures?

Some relief sculptures are on a wood panel backing and some do not have a backing. This type is more eye catching because it looks like the animal is coming right out of htte wall. These backing-free sculptures have metal mesh embedded within the clay to give it strength and support.

Do I need to add the hardware to hang the art piece?

No, all the hanging art comes ready to hang. You will need to prepare an anchor and screw in your wall to hang it on. Some pieces will require two wall screws to ensure it hangs straight.

Can these be outside?

Definitely, they can go outside. None of the pieces have exterior UV protection for the paint. If you wish to place it outside, I highly recommend you seal it with a non-yellowing clear sealant for acrylic paint. Also recommend they enjoy the winter inside.

How fragile is the sculpture?

Hardened polymer clay is strong. Smaller pieces that stick out, like claws are certainly more vulnerable. Also, any on a wood backing can crack with rough handling. Please contact me if you have particular concerns.
